A woman was arrested for assault with a weapon following an incident that drew a heavy police presence in Vernon last week.
RCMP officers responded to a weapons complaint at a residence on 27th Avenue at 8:45 p.m. June 25, according to media relations officer Cpl. Tania Finn.
A post in the Vernon Rant and Rave (uncensored) Facebook group reported six police vehicles heading towards the Okanagan Landing area.
"Police conducted an investigation and submitted the information to Crown Counsel for review," said Finn. "Based on the evidence presented, BC Prosecution Services determined there was no substantial likelihood of conviction and elected not to proceed with criminal charges."
The victim of the assault was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries from a knife.
The suspect and the victim are known to each other.
The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP did not release any further details about the incident.
