The cross country skiing season has officially begun in Vernon.
The Sovereign Lake Nordic Club opened its doors for the 2025-25 ski season Saturday, Nov. 9.
Not all trails were open Saturday due to it being early in the season, and snowshoe and dog ski trails also aren't open yet, but "the trails that are able to be groomed are fantastic," the club said on its website.
Day tickets can only be purchased at the lodge for now, but online tickets will be available soon. Season passes are only available online.
The club's hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Night skiing is expected to start on Nov. 23, when the trails will be open until 8 p.m. Tuesdays to Thursdays.
Trails that are not posted as open are not recommended as they have early-season hazards such as creeks, rocks, trees and uneven terrain, so skiers are asked to stick to trails marked open.
Check out Sovereign Lake's Trail Report for up-to-date info on trails as they open up.
