Young students from across the Vernon area laced up their cleats and strained their muscles at an annual football camp over the May 10 weekend.
The Vernon Secondary School (VSS) Panthers hosted the third annual camp, and over 25 students took part.
“This camp is a great opportunity for Panther football to see what Grade 6 and 7 prospects that we will have coming into VSS and possibly the Panther football program,” said Panthers team manager Rhonda Hove. “It is also a perfect way for children to be introduced to football.”
Panthers coaches and players from both the senior and junior teams helped to teach basic aspects of football, as well as their love of the game.
Elementary students came from Silver Star, BX, Hillview and St. James.
“It was a perfect way for Panther football to give back to a community that is so supportive of our program,” Hove added. “Thank you to everyone that took part and the camp will be back again next year.”
