A traffic stop in late December led to significant drug seizure in Kelowna’s Rutland community.

While out on patrol, Kelowna RCMP officers noticed two individuals in the vehicle “behaving in a way consistent with drug trafficking.”

When officers executed the traffic stop, they found evidence consistent with illegal substances. Both the driver of the vehicle and the passenger were arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

As the investigation continued, officers found a hidden compartment in the vehicle. They seized the vehicle, obtained a warrant to continue their search and found a kilogram of suspected cocaine, 180 grams of methamphetamine, 180 grams of fentanyl, and around $6,000, which was all also seized.

Both individuals have been released from custody while the investigation continues.
