After a three-month investigation, the Kelowna RCMP arrested three local drug dealers, taking a significant amount of narcotics off the streets.

In February, the RCMP’s Proactive Enforcement Unit began a drug investigation after viewing an Acura TL at “several short-duration meetings.” During the meeting, the officers noticed many actions consistent with drug dealing. Because of this, the RCMP believed this would lead to a drug trafficking organization with a hierarchical structure.

Over the three months, as the RCMP continued their investigation, they were able to identify the individuals involved, their vehicles, and the site where the drugs were held.

After collecting enough evidence, on Tuesday, May 23, the RCMP executed a search warrant at the drug house and found:

  • More than one kilogram of fentanyl;
  • one kilogram of crack and powder cocaine;
  • more than 10 ounces of crystal methamphetamine;
  • three vehicles;
  • and a significant amount of cash and cell phones.

There was also evidence of the production of fentanyl and cocaine in the residence.

The RCMP is recommending the following charges to the three men arrested: Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Production of the Canadian Drug and Substance Act.

“This seizure will have a significant impact on the community,” said Sgt Desmond Kiehlbauch of the Kelowna Proactive Enforcement Unit. “The dangerous substances could have affected over 10,000 individuals and the removal off the streets has saved lives. Police will continue to focus on those who target vulnerable populations with highly toxic substances.”
