Shuswap MLA George Abbott is garnering more support for his bid to be B.C.’s next premier.
Naomi Yamamoto, minister of state for building code renewal, and Ralph Sultan, West Vancouver-Capilano MLA, have endorsed Abbott’s campaign to become Liberal leader.
“Having had the opportunity to observe the candidates and their campaigns, I’ve come to the conclusion that our province needs a leader who has an ability to connect with people, a leader who recognizes that there are truths on both sides of an issue, and a leader who can work on solutions which transcend the usual partisan approaches,” said Yamamoto.
Sultan says he developed five criteria to rank the prospective leaders’ platforms, experience and leadership style.
“George comes first in a strong and talented field of Liberal candidates,” said Sultan.
“What stands out for me is that George has owned and operated his own business and met payroll. In my experience, nothing builds character and common sense more than having to meet a payroll.”
Sultan and Yamamoto are among 17 cabinet ministers and MLAs who have rallied behind Abbott, including Vernon-Monashee MLA Eric Foster.
