Airplane goes off the runway at Kelowna International Airport

The pilot walked away from the aircraft and is receiving a medical assessment from B.C. Ambulance.

Emergency personnel have responded to a plane going off the runway at Kelowna International Airport.

At about 11:45 a.m. Friday, a flying school student was piloting a Cessna 172 on runway 16 when the aircraft veered off the runway and ended up in Mill Creek.

YLW aircraft rescue firefighters are on scene. The pilot walked away from the aircraft and is receiving a medical assessment from B.C. Ambulance.

According to YLW, the runway is open and commercial flights in and out of the airport are as scheduled. Environmental measures are in place for Mill Creek located along the runway.
