Alberta man dies in golf cart rollover at Predator Ridge

UPDATE: 2:15 P.M.: Vernon RCMP have released the name of the man killed in the golf cart rollover accident Thursday night at Predator Ridge Golf Resort.

The deceased is Glenn Thordarson, 51, of Edmonton.

Thordarson has been identified as CEO of Millwork Milltech Ltd., an architectural woodwork firm.

A second Alberta man in the cart, 44, from Calgary, has been released from hospital.

Police continue to investigate all aspects of the case.

 

UPDATE, 10:45 A.M. FRIDAY…

Vernon RCMP responded to a report of a golf cart rollover at Predator Ridge Golf Course south of Vernon at 7:15 p.m. Thursday.

The accident, which is under investigation, involved a golf cart and two middle-aged men from Alberta.

“Information police have learned from a witness nearby is the cart hit the retaining wall, then turned,  went over an embankment and rolled down approximately 20 feet to a road below,” said Vernon RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.

Emergency officials at the scene confirm one man died at the scene as a result of his injuries. The second man suffered serious injuries and was transported to Vernon Jubilee Hospital.

No names are being released.  The RCMP is continuing to investigate the cause of this crash along with the BC Coroner Service to determine the events that lead to the crash, and the death.

Police have seized the golf cart and will inspect it, while an RCMP crash analyst has been called in to help with the investigation.

On its website, Predator Ridge released the following statement: “The entire staff and

organization of Predator Ridge Resort is saddened by this loss and our thoughts and prayers go

out to the family and friends of the deceased.”
