Arrest made in alleged arson case

On Sept. 6, authorities responded to a fire at the rear of AJ's Pets and Things on 31st Avenue.

RCMP have made an arrest in connection to an alleged arson investigation at a downtown Vernon business.

On Sept. 6 at about 6:30 a.m., the Vernon Fire Department and the RCMP responded to a fire at the rear of AJ’s Pets and Things on 31st Avenue.

“Surveillance video showed a man appearing to start the fire. This video was released by the store to the general public,” said Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy, with the RCMP.

Crown Counsel has approved a charge of arson against Ryan Patrick Warnock, 33.

Warnock has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Vernon Provincial Court today (Thursday).
