Police continue to investigate an assault at a Vernon townhouse Monday that sent one man to hospital and another to jail.

Police were called to a townhouse complex on 20th Street near 40th Avenue at around 9:30 p.m.

A 61-year-old man was found with serious injuries and was transported to Kelowna General Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

A 28-year-old Vernon man was taken into custody.

“This was not a home invasion,” said Vernon RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.

“The suspect was looking for an individual associated to the apartment.”

Molendyk said the suspect and victim are not related.

Victor Jackson made his first court appearance Wednesday on a charge of aggravated assault. He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance July 10.
