Two women suffered serious injuries after the ATV they were riding crashed into Enderby’s library.
Just after 11 p.m. Sunday, the two women were riding a single all-terrain vehicle quad on Belvedere Street.
“The women failed to maintain control and collided with a building, causing significant injuries to both women,” said Enderby RCMP Sgt. Neil Hogg.
At the time of the accident, police officers were completing tasks on an unrelated investigation and were parked on Belvedere Street as the quad passed.
By the time one officer started his police vehicle, the quad had already collided with the Enderby branch of Okanagan Regional Library.
“The officer heard the collision, started his vehicle, completed a U-turn then immediately attended to the accident scene where both members began assisting the two women,” said Hogg.
Both women were transported to hospital and treated for facial, spinal and internal injuries.
Speed and alcohol are considered to be contributing factors.
The police investigation is continuing.
