Barking dog alerts Enderby woman to prowlers

RCMP officers make one arrest after two men were peering into a window at a home near Larsen Drive Friday evening

Man’s best friend helped an Enderby woman.

Shortly after 11 p.m. Friday night, RCMP officers responded to a report of a prowler at a residence in the Larsen Drive area.

“The owner was sleeping and woke up to her dog barking, the motion light in the backyard went on, and she reported seeing two men dressed in black with hoodies pulled up staring in a window where the screen had been removed,” said RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.

The woman turned on the lights in her home and that scared away the prowlers.

Officers located one of the two suspects a short distance away and arrested him.

The 20-year-old suspect is well known to police, said Molendyk, and was remanded in custody to appear in Salmon Arm Provincial Court Monday. He will face three counts of breach of probation and one count of possession of break-in instruments.

The second suspect was not located.
