Enderby is a hive of activity as producers, actors, crew and residents are set to gather today at a Hollywood-style movie premiere.

Blackway was produced by Rick Dugdale, of Enderby Entertainment, and shot in the North Okanagan.

"I would like to thank Enderby Entertainment, and the fantastic local talent that contributed to making the filming of Blackway a success,” said Shirley Bond, B.C.’s jobs minister.

Blackway is a psychological thriller starring Anthony Hopkins, Julia Stiles and Ray Liotta.

With a total production expenditure of $5 million, this spending has directly benefited 60 to 70 local businesses, including restaurants and hotels. The film provided jobs for 150 British Columbians, 100 of whom were local to the area.

"With a strong economy, its proximity to Los Angeles and talented workforce, British Columbia is a solid choice for filming,” said Dugdale, who grew up in Enderby.

“As we continue to grow, I look forward to continuing to support the film and television sector here in B.C., by securing more filming - and work for locals - in the beautiful Okanagan."

The by-invitation premiere is taking place at the Skyway Drive-In.
