Blaze destroys shop

Enderby firefighters were called to a fully involved shop fire at a dairy farm on Dale Avenue at 1:20 a.m.

Several pieces of machinery were destroyed by fire early Monday morning in Enderby.

Firefighters were called to a fully involved shop fire at a dairy farm on Dale Avenue at 1:20 a.m.

“The roof was collapsed into the building when we got there,” said Kevin Alstad, Enderby fire chief.

“We couldn’t save the building.”

Inside the structure was a variety of equipment, including two tractors, a bailer, a quad and a truck.

“All of it was lost,” said Alstad.

But the firefighters were able to keep the blaze from spreading to other adjacent buildings.

Cold weather proved to be a challenge.

“The air packs kept freezing up but we had a good crew on site,” said Alstad.

The property owner has insurance and the cause of the fire has not been determined.

“It’s definitely not suspicious,” said Alstad.
