The investigation continues after a body was located in Vernon’s Polson Park
A deceased man in his 40s was found near the lawn bowling club at about 10 a.m. Wednesday.
“We don’t know exactly what we’re dealing with yet,” said Gord Molendyk, RCMP spokesperson.
“We don’t have anything obvious for a cause of death.”
Molendyk will not speculate on whether the incident is suspicious.
“We treat it like a homicide but it may not be a homicide,” he said.
“We don’t know if we’re dealing with a major crime scene or if someone passed away.”
The B.C. Coroners Service and the RCMP’s serious crimes unit are involved in the investigation.
“We are waiting for autopsy results,” said Molendyk, adding that process will be done in the next few days.
Games at the Vernon Lawn Bowling Club were cancelled Wednesday morning and police tape restricted public access to a large area ranging from the lawn bowling clubhouse to the bandshell and the skateboard park.
The public was allowed back into those areas Wednesday afternoon.
