The body of a senior missing after a May 5 landslide in Sunnybrae has now been recovered.

On Wednesday, May 31, the Salmon Arm RCMP, assisted by crews from the Columbia Shuswap Regional District, Ministry of Transportation and a private local excavation contractor were able to locate and recover Roy Sharp’s remains from the mudslide debris area in the 5900 block of Sunnybrae Canoe Point Road.

Sharp’s home was completely destroyed in the slide, but initial searches proved unsuccessful in locating him. He was later presumed dead as a result of the incident, and efforts switched to recovering his remains.

The Salmon Arm RCMP continues to provide support to the Sharp family and continues to assist the BC Coroners Service with their investigation into his death.
