Boil water advisory remains in place for Silver Star

Water for consumption and washing fruits and vegetables should be boiled for one minute

Silver Star residents are being reminded to keep boiling their water.

A boil water notice that was initiated for the Silver Star water utility June 3 remains in place.

“The notice is in effect due to a bacteria count in the distribution system,” said James de Pfyffer, the Regional District of North Okanagan’s small water utility manager.

Water intended for the following uses should be boiled for one minute:

− drinking

− washing fruits and vegetables

− making beverages or ice

− brushing teeth

“Staff continue to monitor water quality and are investigating and implementing measures to correct any issues discovered,” said de Pfyffer.

“Customers will be notified when water quality has returned to normal.”
