Thousands of Vernon and Coldstream residents can drink out of the tap again.

The boil water notice for the north Kalamalka Lake intake has been rescinded.

“All bacterial testing results and disinfection levels are satisfactory in the distribution system and the water has returned to a good rating,” said Al Cotsworth, with the Regional District of North Okanagan.

“A good rating means the water is safe to drink with the exception of customers with immune compromised systems.”

Residents with immune compromised systems should boil their water for one minute for drinking, washing produce, making beverages or ice or brushing teeth.

The boil water advisory was initiated Sept. 2 after high bacteria counts were found in Kalamalka Lake.
