Co-operation means a Vernon facility can accommodate two major events.
There was originally a concern that either the Okanagan Military Tattoo or the B.C. Junior B Lacrosse Provincials would have to be bumped when they both booked Kal Tire Place for the August long weekend,
“Recreation services is very pleased to see that these groups have worked with our staff in order to allow two great events to take place in August,” said Doug Ross, recreation services director.
The Okanagan Military Tattoo, which will feature marching and music, will take place Aug. 1 and 2.
“This show, with 400 performers and needing 200 volunteers, will be the biggest show of its kind to come to Vernon,” said Norm Crerar, Okanagan MIlitary tattoo director.
“We expect this event to be an annual event and just as important to Vernon as Funtastic and the Winter Carnival”.
The Vernon Tigers Lacrosse Team hosts the B.C. Junior B Lacrosse Provincials Aug. 2 to 4.
“The Vernon Tigers are very pleased that all parties were able to work together and make both events happen,” said Roxane Seaton, Tigers general manager.
“The last time the Tigers hosted the Junior B Provincials was in 2004. To be able to play for your hometown crowd in your home arena is fantastic.”
