A fight outside of a Vernon business resulted in police problems for one of the alleged combatants.
Two officers from the Vernon RCMP detachment responded to a report of a fight at 6:20 p.m. Saturday at the Best Western Plus Vernon Lodge cold beer and wine store.
When officers arrived, a suspect was pointed out to them.
“The suspect had a strong smell of liquor when he spoke to the officers and was unsteady on his feet,” said Gord Molendyk, spokesperson for the Vernon RCMP.
According to the detachment, the 39-year-old Vernon man admitted to drinking when asked if he had consumed any alcohol.
“Our officers did a check of this name through the computer system, and records showed he was on a condition of no alcohol on a recognizance order,” said Molendyk.
The man was arrested for the breach of recognizance and was taken to the Vernon RCMP detachment to be held for an appearance before a justice of the peace.
