Police have converged in large numbers at the Vernon Army Camp Wednesday evening.

Seven police cruisers could be seen along Highway 97 at the Army Camp around 6 p.m. July 12.

A Morning Star reporter on scene says police are attending to a white Volkswagen vehicle. A man was being spoken to by police in the back of one of the police cruisers. RCMP officers could also be seen checking a nearby ditch.

A witness told The Morning Star that the police presence followed a “high speed chase” off 25th Avenue, ending at the Army Camp.

The Morning Star has reached out to the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP for more details.
