The Regional District of North Okanagan and Interior Health wish to inform customers of the Grindrod Water Utility, that the water intake was turned off Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016, and turned back on the next day.

There was no service interruption as there was sufficient treated water in the reservoir to supply water needs to customers.

Grindrod Water Utility’s intake was turned off when a diesel spill was reported upstream in the Shuswap River on Thursday to avoid contaminated water entering the water system.

“The Ministry of Environment provided the necessary response to the spill, and on Friday, after consultation with Interior Health, it was determined there was no further risk to the water quality at the intake,” said the RDNO in a release.

“The intake was turned back on and service has returned to normal.”
