A torched stolen vehicle resulted in smoke damage to a Vernon business Friday.

RCMP and the Vernon Fire Department were called to a report of car fire in the 4300 block of 29th Street, near Wentworth Music, shortly after 3:30 a.m.

“There was considerable damage to the exterior awning, some slight smoke damage to the interior and considerable damage to the front picture windows,” said Vernon Fire Department deputy chief Jack Blair on how the fire affected Wentworth Music.

The vehicle, a light green Volvo, had been reported stolen earlier in the day from the Coldstream area.

Police had no suspects as of Friday but were checking surrounding businesses to see if surveillance tape footage may be helpful in their investigation.
