North Westside taxes will go down for regional services while those in Lake Country will climb.

The Regional District of Central Okanagan has adopted its 2014 budget for 80 different services. The actual tax rate varies from neighbourhood to neighbourhood and municipality, depending on the local services provided.

For a North Westside home assessed at $459,000, there will be a decrease in 2014 taxes of $36.78.

In Lake Country, a residence assessed at $463,000 will see the RDCO portion of the tax bill jump $15.45.

In the North Westside electoral area, rather than taxation or rate increases, needed capital upgrades and equipment purchases will be completed through funding from the federal gas tax program. The projects include the North Westside Fire Department and the Westshore Estates water utility.

The overall financial plan includes $16.3 million to fund property acquisition and development within the regional parks system.
