Child porn and luring charges laid in Vernon

RCMP officers searched a home July 17 after receiving information July 4

RCMP are warning parents to be vigilant after charges were laid in an alleged case of child pornography and luring.

On July 17, RCMP officers searched a Vernon home and seized computers and other associated material. A 39-year-old man was arrested in the alleged case that involves girls under the age of 16.

“The RCMP wants to remind parents to know what your children are looking at and participating in on the Internet,” said Gord Molendyk, RCMP spokesperson.

The search of the residence occurred after the RCMP received information July 4.

“We do investigate any time we have information. We are acting on them,” said Molendyk of such cases.

Besides the Vernon RCMP, the case also involved the B.C. Integrated Child Exploitation Unit.

David Willerth made his first court appearance July 18 on charges of  luring, invitation to sexual touching, possession of child pornography and accessing child pornogrpahy.
