An alert Vernon homeowner is being credited for helping thwart an attempted break and enter.

On Monday at about 2:12 p.m., a resident was in his home in the 1300 block of 43rd Avenue when he heard a noise and saw a man attempting to break into his residence.

“The police were called and with the aid of one of our police service dog teams, the suspect was tracked to a residence on Cascade Drive,” said Gord Molendyk, RCMP spokesperson.

A 45-year-old suspect has been arrested in conjunction with the incident.

The suspect was expected to appear in court Tuesday to answer to the charge of attempted break and enter.
