Saturday’s civic election isn’t the only change taking place at Vernon city hall.

Leon Gous has announced he is stepping down as chief administrative officer Dec. 31 to return to the private sector.

“I have enjoyed the challenges of working for the city and have always appreciated the respectful working relationship I have had with mayor and council,” said Gous, who has been with the city for eight years, six of those as chief administrative officer.

Retired deputy administrator Marg Bailey will be hired in the interim while a new CAO is sought.
