City restricts water

The City of Armstrong is moving towards year-round stage one water restrictions.

Public works manager Pat Hickerson made the recommendation to council Tuesday to amend its water restrictions bylaw in light of Armstrong’s water treatment plant being completed.

“Stage 1 water restrictions on a year-round basis will not only promote the mindset of conservation all year, but the consistency will also help prevent confusion amongst citizens of Armstrong as to when they can water,” wrote Hickerson in a report to council.

The new bylaw would actually add an hour of watering time during the year-round Stage 1 restrictions.

With the change, people with even-numbered addresses can water a lawn, garden or landscaped area on even-numbered days between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m., and 7 p.m. and midnight.

Same goes for odd-numbered addresses on odd-numbered days.

People with in-ground automated watering systems would not be allowed to run the systems from midnight to 5 a.m.
