Coldsteam approves land swap

Trintec Enterprises has proposed land be exchanged to facilitate the future extension of Sarsons Road

There won’t be any shopping centres moving in anytime soon despite some action towards a long-awaited development in Coldstream.

Trintec Enterprises has proposed that equal areas of land be exchanged to facilitate the future extension of Sarsons Road. The amount of land to be exchanged is 0.313 hectares.

“It’s been decades its been going on, this is just one of the steps,” said Trevor Seibel, Coldstream’s chief administrative officer.

The exchange would allow for Sarsons Road to connect with Elgin Drive.

“It makes sense to have it in this location,” said Mayor Jim Garlick, adding that if there was ever a gymnastics facility built, the adjacent property would be suiting.

The land is further from the sensitive wetland and has more potential to accommodate active recreation uses.

Providing the land needed for the road extension also provides certainty for the future development of the Trintec site, even though there has been no progress on the development.
