A provincial court judge has sentenced a man to jail time for his role in a Coldstream assault in July.

Paul Edward Lyons was sentenced by Judge Robin Smith to three years in jail on one count of aggravated assault. Lyons was also sentenced to one year in jail for each of two counts of assault with a weapon, and another six months in jail for a charge of assault.

However, the last three counts will be served concurrently with the aggravated assault time.

Crown counsel stayed five other charges against Lyons in connection with an incident off Buchanan Road on July 26.

RCMP officers responded at 8:20 p.m. that night to a domestic assault.

Three people were beaten with a baseball bat by a man known to all three.

The victims – two women and a man – suffered bruises to their legs, arms, torsos and face.

One of the women required surgery to repair a broken arm.
