Coldstream receives funding for wood stove exchange

The program provides a $250 rebate when a new stove is purchased to replace an older model

Coldstream is receiving provincial funding to replace old wood stoves in the community.

The provincial government, in partnership with the B.C. Lung Association, is providing $14,000 to Coldstream as part of the provincial Wood Stove Exchange program.

The program provides a $250 rebate when a new, wood-burning, pellet or natural gas stove is purchased to replace an  older model.

New, emissions-certified wood stoves burn one-third less  wood and reduce smoke and particulates entering the atmosphere by 70 per cent or more.

“Homeowners can save a bundle by switching over to a high efficiency stove and our air  quality will improve significantly,” said Eric Foster, Vernon-Monashee MLA.
