A North Okanagan man who hit a pair of cyclists in Coldstream has been given a conditional sentence.
Hugh Martin Donnelly, born in 1980, entered guilty pleas to a pair of counts of failing to stop at an accident scene involving bodily harm. He was given a four-month conditional sentence and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of $200 in connection with an incident in May 2016.
A mother and daughter had been out for a bike ride on Buchanan Road shortly before 8 p.m. on May 6 when both were struck by a passing truck.
The cyclists had a description of the vehicle but did not stop following the incident.
A man turned himself into Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP several days later.
The mother suffered a concussion and back injury after being hit, the daughter suffered scrapes.
