CounterAttack patrols area roads

It’s Christmas time and with it comes RCMP CounterAttack road blocks.

Members were out doing CounterAttack checks last weekend in the Armstrong and Vernon areas.

“They dealt with five impaired drivers during the road checks,” said Gord Molendyk, Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP spokesperson.

Over the past week, officers arrested nine motorists for impaired driving, which includes the five from the road blocks, and issued 13 three-day Immediate Roadside Prohibitions (IRPs).

“Just a reminder you will likely see our officers conducting road checks any time from now until the end of the holiday season,” said Molendyk, adding that the “end of season” is around Jan. 5 and 6.

“We ask you to plan ahead. Have a designated driver or call a cab or other driving service. We want everyone to have a safe Christmas season.”
