The Canada Day fireworks will return to Vernon July 1

A Canada Day tradition has been reignited.

Fireworks are returning for the July 1 festivities and will be presented on Kalamalka Lake thanks to the generous community minded contributions of sponsors.

“This year’s Craftsman Collision Canada Day Fireworks will be an amazing spectacle on Kal Lake,” said Tom Watters, regional manager for B.C. Interior. “It’s an honour and privilege to be in a position where we can help the City of Vernon and the District of Coldstream host such a great, free family event.”

The fireworks will be choreographed/musically synchronized and broadcast on 107.5 KISS FM at 10:30 p.m. Residents are urged to car pool to Kal Beach or find a suitable vantage point. Blankets and food are welcome but Kal Beach does not allow pets or alcohol.

“The Canada Day Fireworks sponsorship is just part of Craftsman Collision’s ongoing commitment to the communities in which we do business and we are excited to be a part of bringing back the fireworks to Vernon,” said Rick Hatswell, COO for Craftsman Collision.

The project is funded in part by the Government of Canada via a Celebrate Canada Grant along with a host of additional sponsors.

Meanwhile a whole new menu of entertainment is scheduled for Canada Day festivities at Polson Park, including two stages plus a field of activities.

All of this is thanks to the volunteer efforts of the newly formed North Okanagan Canada Day Society, led by president David Frost.
