Crime Stoppers pursuing public support

North Okanagan-Shuswap Crime Stoppers' Society going door-to-door fundraising

This is one door-to-door campaign the RCMP have no problems alerting residents to.

The North Okanagan-Shuswap Crime Stoppers’ Society has launched its 2012 fundraising campaign, again using the help of Rocky Mountain Marketing, which goes door-to-door from Lumby to Salmon Arm and Sicamous selling a coupon card to raise funds for Crime Stoppers.

“Canvassers are now out going door-to-door, they have yellow jackets with the Rocky Mountain Marketing logo on the right side, and the Crime Stoppers logo on the left,” said RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk, who doubles as the North Okanagan-Shuswap Crime Stoppers’ co-ordinator.

“If you’re still wary of them, by all means ask for identification. The canvassers carry ID with them.”

Rocky Mountain Marketing agents are selling a coupon card full of between $500 and $600 in values from businesses and organizations in the North Okanagan-Shuswap region.

The card, with tax, sells for just under $30, and canvassers have the technology to accept debit cards at the door.

Last year’s campaign raised approximately $10,000 for the local Crime Stoppers.

“This is the main support of revenue for our program,” said Molendyk.

“It’s one of the ways we pay for rewards and run our program.”
