The NHL’s regular season kicks off today.
It’s also the final day to register (by 4 p.m.) for the second annual Morning Star online hockey pool at www.vernonmorningstar.com.
Click on “Contests” on the top-right corner of the page, and go to The Morning Star online hockey pool and register your team (you must be 19 or over to participate).
All you do is pick one player from 27 player boxes, and one Canadian team you think will finish with the most points in the regular season.
The winner will receive a flat screen TV, second place gets a recliner and third place wins a sound bar system, all courtesy of pool sponsor City Furniture.
Vernon’s John Kuly won the first pool in 2014-15, amassing 1,593 points.
There will also be prizes of $75 gift certificates from Wings Bar and Grill given to the weekly points leaders.
In all, there will be more than $3,500 in prizes up for grabs during the pool.
An added feature of the pool is a “Beat The Expert” component in which all people entered who have more points than Morning Star sports editor Kevin Mitchell will be entered into a draw for what Jensen terms “a fabulous prize.”
Mitchell finished in 232nd place a year ago.
