Further details have been provided for firefighter Dan Botkin’s funeral in Enderby.

Botkin, 25, died during an explosion at Sperlich Log Construction Dec. 29.

On Thursday, a parade of emergency services vehicles and personnel will gather at the Enderby Chamber of Commerce at 700 Railway St. at 10:30 a.m. and proceed down Belvidere Street to the Enderby Memorial Arena, 1605 Kate St. for the funeral.

“Those who plan to attend the service must be seated by 10:30,” said Tom DeSorcy, Enderby Fire Department media liaison.

“Seating will be limited, with family and members of the Enderby Volunteer Fire Department given priority.”

An audio broadcast of the proceedings will be aired outside, near the arena’s western parking lot.

In terms of parking, people are asked to walk or carpool if possible as a huge volume of traffic in the area is expected for the service.

Parking in the vicinity of the arena, Kate Street, Kildonan Avenue, and Crescent Drive will be restricted to family and dignitaries.

There will be no parking on Belvidere Street between Cliff Avenue and Mill Avenue, on Cliff Avenue from Belvidere Street to the Enderby Bridge, and all of Railway Street.

“Access to the Enderby bridge will be blocked prior to and during the emergency services parade,” said DeSorcy.

After the service, there will be a reception for the general public in the curling rink.

“A reception for emergency services personnel will occur at the fire hall. The general public is asked not to proceed to the fire hall,” said DeSorcy.
