Driver facing charges after collisions

A 22-year-old Vernon woman is facing impaired driving charges after allegedly being involved in several collisions Saturday night.

Just before 11 p.m., RCMP officers responded to a report of an impaired driver in the area of 43rd Avenue and the intersection at Kal Tire Place.

“The caller reported he was stopped at the light when a vehicle came through the red light at the intersection westbound travelling in excess of 90 kilometers an hour. and sideswiped the driver’s side of his car,” said RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.

The caller’s vehicle was damaged along the driver’s side, and the offending driver of the car did not stop, but continued westbound on 43rd Avenue at a high rate of speed.

A short time later, police located the suspect vehicle. a grey Chevy Cavalier, on Old Kamloops Road with severe damage.  The driver of the suspect vehicle was arrested for impaired driving.

“Our officers received several calls regarding the actions of this driver and the car,” said Molendyk. “It was learned that this vehicle was also involved in another collision just after running into the vehicle by Kal Tire Place.

“It appears this woman was involved in three collisions, damaging a median and shearing off a yield sign.”

There were no injuries reported in any of these accidents.
