Hot August long weekend temperatures did not dry out RCMP officers’ pens.
Members of the North Okanagan Traffic Services and Integrated Road Safety Unit were kept very busy writing violations.
“There were very heavy volumes of traffic over the long weekend,” said RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.
The biggest issue was people in a hurry.
RCMP officers wrote 86 speeding tickets, and one vehicle was impounded for excessive speed (40 km/h or more over the posted speed limit).
Sixteen motorists were given tickets for seatbelt violations and there were 36 other violations.
Three 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibitions were issued and two drivers were given 24-hour prohibitions involving alcohol.
Four people were ticketed for using an electronic device while driving.
One ticket was issued to a driver who was prohibited from being behind the wheel, and police issued 20 written warnings. There were also two minor drug seizures.
