Drivers taken to VJH with minor injuries after Highway 97 accident in Spallumcheen

An Armstrong woman was issued a violation ticket for failing to yield in Sunday morning incident

The drivers were taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital following a two-vehicle collision Sunday morning in Spallumcheen.

The crash, which occurred after 10 a.m., was at the intersection of Highway 97A and St. Annes Road near the Spallumcheen Golf and Country Club.

“Our detachment received word of an incident possibly involving a roll-over,” said Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk. “A couple of our officers attended.”

When they arrived, a white pickup was on its side.

The investigation revealed the truck had been involved in a collision with an Acura.

“The driver of the truck said he was going along the highway toward Kamloops when the car pulled out in front of him without yielding,” said Molendyk.

The driver of the car, a 62-year-old Armstrong woman, was issued a violation ticket for failing to yield.

She and the driver of the truck, a 37-year-old Coldstream man, were taken by ambulance to VJH to be checked out for minor injuries.
