Stimulating the economy has local politicians heading back to class.
The Regional District of North Okanagan board agreed Wednesday to partner with the City of Vernon to host an economic development workshop for area officials.
“It’s for the whole region,” said chairperson Patrick Nicol.
The city decided to organize a workshop because a similar session sponsored by the provincial government wasn’t coming to the North Okanagan.
The May 10 event will be conducted by the Economic Development Association of B.C.
“We want to make it North Okanagan focused,” said Kevin Poole, Vernon’s economic development manager, adding that some of the topics will include industry, tourism and agriculture.
The total cost for the workshop is $3,500, with RDNO providing $1,000.
“This (funding) allows us to open it up to the region,” said Poole.
