Election 2014: Candidates to speak up in Oyama

Lake Country candidates take part in forum at Oyama Community Hall Thursday

Oyama residents will have an opportunity to hear from the candidates who want to represent them on Lake Country council.

The Oyama Community Club will hold a forum for mayor, Oyama ward and at-large candidates Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Oyama Community Hall. The doors open at 6:15 p.m.

Each candidate will be given two minutes for an opening statement or comment. The candidates will then be asked about their vision for Oyama and Lake Country.

There will also be an opportunity for residents to ask the candidates questions.

The candidates for mayor are incumbent James Baker and Jayson McCarthy.

Incumbent Owen Dickie and Keli Westgate are vying for the Oyama ward position while Arlene Brenner, incumbent Penny Gambell, Richard Issler, Don Rae and Bill Scarrow are running for the two councillor-at-large seats.
