There are still opportunities to hear from the candidates running for Vernon city hall.
The Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce and the Canadian Home Builders Association will host an evening with the candidates Tuesday at Predator Ridge Resort.
“The event will include a social and dinner with all candidates running for council for the city of Vernon,” said Dan Rogers, chamber executive director.
“Members and future members of both the chamber and home builders association can attend but must register in advance through the chamber office.”
The event begins with a mix and mingle with the candidates at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6:15 p.m. and the forum at 7:30 p.m.
“Depending on space availability, members of the public can drop by at 7:30 p.m. at no cost to hear the mayoralty forum,” said Rogers.
Tickets for the dinner can be purchased at firstname.lastname@example.org or 250-545-0771.
On Thursday, the Vernon Public Art Gallery will host a forum at 6 p.m. for candidates for Vernon mayor and councillor.
“The adequacy of political support for culture has been and continues to be a live issue in Vernon and the surrounding areas,” said Andrew Powell, art gallery president.
“Although much of the conversation has focussed on the need for facilities such as an art gallery, there is a list of organizations, including the museum for instance, who have pointed out vocally and repeatedly that the services they provide are stunted because of their inadequate infrastructure or operational support.”
