The employee who reported a robbery at a Vernon cash lending facility is now facing possible charges.
Vernon RCMP say a robbery at Vernon Cash Solutions Inc. on 26th Street as reported by the employee never happened.
“We conducted a thorough investigation, through good old-fashioned police work and video surveillance, and determined no robbery had occurred,” said Vernon RCMP Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy.
Police received a report on Nov. 10 at 1:30 p.m. They were told that a man entered the store, produced what appeared to be a handgun and stole an undisclosed amount of money, fleeing on foot.
The employee told police she was not physically hurt, but shaken by the ordeal, and was able to provide a description of the alleged suspect.
On Nov. 11, police arrested the 39-year-old female employee.
She is facing recommended charges of public mischief and theft under $5,000.
The woman is due back in court in January.
