Enderby has a blueprint for the future.
On Tuesday, council adopted a new official community plan.
“It was a long process and a lot of people in the community were involved in it. It’s put together really well,” said Coun. Tundra Baird.
Mayor Howie Cyr supports the land use plan.
“It’s a road map for the future of our community,” he said.
“It creates a document on how we will move forward with development. It encourages waste reduction and affordable housing.”
For Cyr, the strength of the document is the extensive community consultation.
“There are no motherhood statements. The focus is on specific things,” he said.
However, not everyone is confident the OCP will assist people pursuing land use changes.
“I don’t know how useful a document is once you put all of the (provincial) ministry requirements in,” said Coun. Earl Shipmaker.
“It can be too cumbersome for someone outside of the system.”
