The City of Enderby has initiated bylaws to deal with infractions in public spaces.

Enderby wants to ensure it has rules for just about any questionable activity.

Council has adopted a bylaw that regulates public spaces.

“We will now have the ability to deal with an issue and fine a person if necessary,” said Mayor Greg McCune.

Among the actions not allowed in a public space are littering, selling merchandise without a permit, feeding animals, erecting a tent, urinating or possessing drug paraphernalia.

The bylaw  also states, “No person shall conduct oneself in an offensive or disorderly manner.”

Dialysis water rates set

The City of Enderby has established a metered rate for home hemodialysis.

Hemodialysis removes fluid and waste products from the blood. The treatment can use up to 1,440 litres of water in an eight-hour period.

Usage will be levied at 50 cents a cubic metre and the request for a reduced rate came from the Interior Health Authority.

“I believe we only have one person in the community in that situation,” said Mayor Greg McCune.
