Evacuation alert issued for Fintry Delta

Properties affected by the alert include those in the delta accessed by Fintry Delta Road, Morden Road and Shorts Road

Flooding has led to an evacuation alert for 90 properties in the Fintry Delta area.

Properties affected by the alert include those in the delta accessed by Fintry Delta Road, Morden Road and Shorts Road.

“Residents in this area should be prepared to leave their homes on short notice should conditions along Shorts Creek worsen. They may also wish to take steps to protect their properties from potential flooding,” said Bruce Smith, with the Regional District of Central Okanagan.

The evacuation order issued earlier Friday for Fintry Provincial Park remains in effect.

A washout has also reduced Westside Road to single-lane alternating traffic 33 kms south of the Junction with Highway 97 north.

North Westside residents can fill sandbags at the main firehall in Killiney Beach.
