Police are now knocking on doors and evacuating people in more of the areas previously under evacuation alert in Peachland.

Capital News reporters on the ground say police are currently knocking on doors along 1 Avenue in Peachland; although news from the regional district states segments of the highway are also being re-opened.

“The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure advises that Highway 97 is once again open to two way traffic from Princeton Avenue to Glenrosa Road.  Highway 97-C, the Okanagan Connector, is also open to traffic,” states the news release sent out at 8:50 p.m. Sunday evening.

It’s estimated that 1,550 people are affected by the evacuation orders.

It’s estimated that 832 people are on evacuation alert; although it is unclear how many of the individuals listed as on evacuation alert are currently being upgraded by police.
