Fatal Lake Country accident under investigation

A motorist was putting gas into his car when he was struck by a truck

A fatal motor vehicle accident is under investigation in Lake Country.

At about 6:24 a.m. Monday, the RCMP responded to a collision between a pedestrian and a pickup truck travelling northbound on Highway 97 near Oceola Road and Pelmewash Parkway.

“A motorist appeared to have been attempting to fill his car with gas on the side of the highway when he was struck by a pickup truck,” said Const. Kelly Brett, with the RCMP.

The victim, a Kelowna man, was pronounced dead while being transported to the hospital.

The driver of the pickup from Princeton, sustained no injuries and remained on scene.

“The investigation into the incident is ongoing and investigators remain on scene,” said Brett.

“The highway is not closed at this time. However, traffic is being slowed and routed into one lane.”
