Fatal motor vehicle accident under investigation

The incident occurred at about 5:20 p.m. Monday by the Forest Grove Fas Gas on Highway 97A.

Police are asking for witnesses after a fatal motor vehicle accident bear Grindrod.

The incident occurred at about 5:20 p.m. Monday when a northbound tractor trailer unit collided with a southbound Pontiac Sunfire by the Forest Grove Fas Gas near Grindrod.

"The 61-year-old male driver, and lone occupant, of the car was pronounced deceased at the scene," said Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy, with the RCMP.

"This is an active investigation, and further information is not being released at this time."

Anyone who witnessed the collision and hasn't talked to police is asked to call the Enderby RCMP at 250-838-6818.

Traffic came to a halt on Highway 97A after the accident occurred.

"Traffic was tied up," said Kevin Alstad, Enderby fire chief.

Firefighters were on scene for three hours and the highway was still closed at that time.

"We were rerouting traffic up Springbend Road," said Alstad.
